Georgia Golf Course Superintendents Association awards eight with Legacy Scholarship
The 2011 Georgia Golf Course Superintendents Association (Georgia GCSA) awarded eight students with its Legacy Scholarship. The scholarship helps finance the schooling of children and grandchildren of Georgia GCSA members.
To be eligible for the scholarship, students must demonstrate academic achievement, extracurricular and community involvement, leadership and outside employment. Students were required to submit two essays, and at least one of their parents or grandparents must have been a Georgia GCSA member for five or more consecutive years and must still be active in the association.
According to a Georgia GCSA press release, the association has provided more than $8,000 in scholarships this year through the Legacy program and the James B. “Monty” Moncrief Scholarship Program, which supports promising turfgrass students at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and the University of Georgia.
