LAWRENCE, KAN.—The second in a series of four online Rounds 4 Research auctions aimed at generating funds to conduct golf course research commenced Oct. 22 and will run through Nov. 5.

Accessible through online auction site biddingforgood.com, the Rounds 4 Research auction will feature more than 60 courses in seven different states. Among the rounds up for auction will be at East Lake Golf Club, Atlanta; Secession Golf Club, Beaufort, S.C.; The Golf Club of Georgia, Alpharetta, Ga.; and Laurel Oak Country Club, Sarasota, Fla.

Subsequent auctions will be conducted Nov. 12-26 and Dec. 3-17. At present, more than 250 rounds, defined as foursomes, will be auctioned this fall. Additional rounds are being secured, likely to drive that number considerably higher.

Rounds 4 Research is a fundraising program with the goal of generating resources to support agronomic research for golf courses. It is in response to previous funding sources, both public and private, being eliminated. The program is being administered by the Environmental Institute for Golf (EIFG), the philanthropic organization of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America. Additional support is being provided by the program’s presenting partner, the Toro Co., in the form of a direct contribution to the EIFG’s cooperative research efforts.
