POGO Turfpro, a division of Stevens Water Monitoring Systems in Portland, Ore., has added three new business development directors, aiming to boost its expertise in data-driven turf management and agronomy. The appointments of Jonathan Dees, Kevin Neal and Richard Douglas bring significant industry experience to POGO’s mission of supporting turf managers and property professionals in making evidence-based decisions for golf courses and sports fields, according to the company.

The new directors — Dees, Neal and Douglas — each bring a background in either golf course or sports turf management. Dees leverages a history in championship golf agronomics across the southwestern U.S., New Zealand and Australia. Neal, with a botany and plant science degree, has expanded brand engagement in California, Hawaii and Nevada, forging partnerships with GCSAA, USGA and CMAA. Douglas joins from professional sports turf circles in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, combining business acumen with technical expertise from Major League Baseball and NCAA facilities.

The appointments underscore POGO’s commitment to technology adoption amid sweeping shifts in the turf industry. Turf care is increasingly defined by AI, smart sensors and sustainability, with real-time data streams transforming water management and turf health assessment, according to POGO. With more than 1,000 sites already using its platforms, POGO is aligning itself with the industry’s move toward actionable analytics to optimize inputs, reduce waste and extend surface longevity.

As data and technology become more integral to turf management, institutions face rising expectations for sustainability and performance.

“(POGO’s) insights will contribute to optimizing turf health and developing innovative features to advance the quality of golf and sports turf maintenance,” a company spokesperson said.
