No love for Caddyshack on EW’s top 100
The new Entertainment Weekly just hit my mailbox. In this issue, they’ve ranked their top 100 TV shows, albums, novels and movies, of all time.
The new Entertainment Weekly, on shelves now, features their list of the top 100 movies, novels, albums and TV shows of all time.
Flipping through their movie category, I see no “Caddyshack.” Ah, well. Not many comedies made it on the list in general, so no huge surprise.
They do have a separate top 10 list of comedies… only one of the movies (1998’s “Rushmore,” starring Bill Murray, natch) is somewhat modern, while half the list consists of movies from 1950 and before. Argh!
I know a lot of Golfdom readers count “Caddyshack” as their No. 1 all-time favorite movie… so I imagine many of you will appalled by its omission. I think “Caddyshack” is hilarious, but I wouldn’t say it’s my all-time favorite comedy, probably not even in my top five. In fact, here’s my quick list of favorite comedies, real quick off the top of my head:
- Major League
- Ghostbusters
- Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
- Old School
- Office Space
So my questions for you: 1. Are you appalled by “Caddyshack” being left off? And 2. What are your favorite comedies, all time?
