Kress and Worx partner with Real Madrid to advance eco-friendly groundskeeping
Real Madrid has entered into a strategic partnership with Positec, the parent company of Kress and Worx, to prioritize sustainable groundskeeping at the club’s properties.
The collaboration will see Real Madrid transition to battery-powered, satellite-guided robotic mowers and handheld equipment from Kress for turf maintenance. This move aligns with a growing trend in professional sports toward reducing carbon emissions and noise pollution, according to the company. Kress’ robotic mowers, already in use at championship golf courses and historic sites, are expected to deliver consistent turf quality while eliminating operational emissions. Kress stated the near-silent operation of both Kress and Worx equipment also addresses concerns about noise in urban environments.
This partnership is part of Real Madrid’s broader sustainability strategy, which includes eco-efficient stadium renovations, electric mobility initiatives and environmental education programs. For professionals and homeowners, Worx’s AI-driven Landroid robotic mowers and PowerShare battery system offer similar environmental benefits on a smaller scale, according to the company.
Real Madrid’s move could influence other top clubs and public venues to accelerate their own sustainability efforts. As regulatory and consumer pressures mount, the landscaping industry is seeing increased demand for electric and autonomous equipment.
As Real Madrid and Positec aim for sustainable turf management, the partnership signals a shift in how elite sports organizations approach environmental responsibility, according to the company. Kress stated that stakeholders across the landscaping and sports industries will be watching closely to see how these initiatives impact performance, fan engagement and industry norms.
