Golfdom edit board member honored

I have to give a big shout-out to Conrad Broussard, CGCS at St. James Plantation in Southport, N.C., for being named Superintendent of the Year for 2013 by Troon. Broussard is a friend, as well as a member of Golfdom‘s Editorial Advisory Board (funny how those things work out) so it brings a smile to my face to see his hard work being recognized.
Here’s a story from Southport, N.C.’s State Port Pilot sharing some of the details of Broussard’s big win. My favorite part is him saying, “I’d probably be bored to tears if I had to go back to just an 18-hole course.” At St. James, Broussard oversees 81 holes of golf.
It’s probably been 10 years now since I visited Broussard and played the Reserve Course. Clearly I need to make a return. While I was there, the Players Course, their third 18-hole course, was being shaped. Still, I got the chance to blast a drive on the future No. 18. Ahh, fond memories.
From all of us at Golfdom, congrats, Conrad!
