GCSAA expects big GIS

By |  January 14, 2014

I caught up with GCSAA CEO Rhett Evans recently. We chatted about a few things, and of course the GIS in Orlando was something we discussed…

Good news for the GCSAA, and maybe the industry: Evans reports that the Golf Industry Show has already surpassed its goal and will be larger than the 2011 show in Orlando:

“Orlando has always been our high-water mark. When we look back at 2011, we’ve already surpassed where we were that year. I think we’ll be north of 180,000 square feet this year,” Evans said. “This is the first time in a few years that we’ve upped the goal. We’ve been pushing to make the goal, and this year we increased it. That’s a good feeling, knowing we’re still five weeks out and we’ve already surpassed what we projected.”

In terms of exhibitors and participants in the tournament, Evans also seemed pleased:

“The number of exhibitors, I think we’ll be close to 550. That’ll be up slightly from last year. So, it’s looking good,” he told me. “The tournament is coming together. They’re finalizing last minute registrations. We’re in the thick of it. All systems go, it looks good.”

We’ll keep you posted on how the GIS shapes up this year…
