Free PACE Turf videos explore spring aeration and disease

By |  April 28, 2011

PACE Turf recently released a trilogy of free videos addressing issues that concern superintendents every spring—compaction and fairy ring. In the first of the three videos, which can be seen for free on YouTube, La Jolla Country Club superintendent Dennis Fowler discusses compaction buildup on greens and demonstrates his solution: deep needle-tine aeration. In the last two videos, Dr. Larry Stowell, director of PACE Turf, discusses fairy ring symptoms and diagnosis, respectively.

The videos, which offer brief, science-based explanations about the issues, “allow us to communicate more quickly and effectively than any other medium when it comes to disease diagnoses and demonstration of agronomic practices,” Stowell said in a release.

The videos can be posted on superintendent association or golf course websites by clicking the “embed” button that appears underneath the video on YouTube. PACE Turf’s other golfer education and superintendent education videos can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/user/paceturf

PACE Turf strives to share agronomic information with turf professionals so they can develop practical and scientifically sound management programs.
