Back from the road
It’s been quiet around the blog these last few days. Apologies. With the new system, I’m not as savvy as blogging from my iPhone as I used to be. I’ll get better, though.
Looking at the wall calendar, I’ve been in the office only four of the last 13 business days. Rough! I’m ready to be in the home office for a while, but that’s not in the cards — next week I’m out the door again for GIE+Expo in Louisville, Ky. But only Thursday and Friday, thankfully.
So far October has taken me to Pinehurst Resort, then Boca Raton and this week, Philadelphia.
All the trips have been good, but the trek to Boca Raton was GREAT. The Palm Beach GCSA knows how to have a chapter meeting, that’s for sure! I hope to return to one of their meetings again sooner rather than later, and I’m even saying that after having been stuck in an airport for a couple hours last night. The PBGCSA calls me up again, I’m probably going…
Philly was great too. A big shout out to Tony Leonard, head groundskeeper for the Philadelphia Eagles. He gave me the full tour of Lincoln Financial Field as well as the team’s practice facilities. Generous with his time, answered all my questions and even offered to help me in the future, if I had sports turf questions down the road. What a nice guy!
Of course, the visit to “The Linc” was for our sister pub, Athletic Turf News. I’ll have a big feature on him and his facility out tomorrow, when we send out the ATN e-newsletter. If you’d like to sign up for ATN, here’s the link.
For now, back to catching up on email, writing a few stories, going through some videos and photos… the beat goes on!
