Ariens: AMP 24 Sno-Thro

By |  October 21, 2013

Ariens’ AMP 24 Sno-Thro is an all-electric two-stage snow thrower with a 24-in. clearing width. The machine will run between 45 to 60 minutes on a single charge depending on snow conditions, and provides a quieter alternative to traditional gas-powered snow throwers. The AMP 24 Sno-Thro is powered by a 4-hp brushless DC electric motor and energized by two 48-volt AGM Valve Regulated battery packs. Starting the machine is as simple as turning the key and pulling the PTO switch, which instantly starts the electric motor. Additional advantages include reduced service requirements because there is no gasoline engine — and no associated gasoline costs or special storage requirements during the summer months. The AMP 24 produces just 73 decibels of sound, an 80% reduction in noise level compared to average snow throwers. For comparison, the company says, this is the equivalent of a handheld hair dryer.
