Say hello to Hanse: It’s always a pleasure to talk to the current course architect about the changes to a venue in advance of a major championship. Jones was able to chat with Gil Hanse, ASGCA, Hanse Golf Course Design, a day before the U.S.Open was to start. The full interview is on Golfdom.com.

Man of the hour: Honest question: After all the hours Mike McCormick put in at Oakmont prepping for the 2025 U.S. Open after the last week… month… six months… how did he still look fresher than Seth?

A picture with the prez: The Golfdom crew asked USGA president Fred Perpall (in sport coat) for a photo. He not only obliged but also said thank you to the team for supporting golf course superintendents. With Perpall are Coughlin, Bill Roddy, Craig MacGregor and Jones.
