Course of the Week: Kalamazoo Country Club

Our latest course of the week is Kalamazoo Country Club in Kalamazoo, Mich. Kalamazoo CC has begun a sweeping transformation of its golf facilities, marking a significant development for both its membership and the broader southwest Michigan golf community. Construction is underway on an innovative 11-hole short course, with a new 18-hole championship course, designed by architect Andrew Green, to follow.

Tim Rayman, general manager of Kalamazoo Country Club and CEO of Greenleaf Hospitality Group, said he was excited about the future of the club.
“I am truly excited to see how Andrew Green reimagines our 145 acres to create a championship-level golf course that is going to be worthy enough to host the best of the best amateur golf tournaments,” he said. “To think that our existing clubhouse, 18-hole golf course, short course, driving range and all amenities will now be dedicated to 18 holes of championship golf is exciting.”
Andrew Green, recognized for high-profile restorations such as Interlachen Country Club and Inverness Club, brings a hands-on approach to the Kalamazoo project. His reputation for honoring classic course architecture while integrating modern elements is expected to resonate with both traditionalists and newer players. The project’s ambition reflects a national trend of private clubs investing in infrastructure to attract and retain members amid a competitive market.

Beyond course construction, Kalamazoo Country Club is investing in a comprehensive Golf Performance Center. The facility includes four TrackMan hitting bays, two teaching studios and PuttView technology for advanced putting analysis. A larger driving range and a 30,000-square-foot putting green further support year-round player development, aligning with broader industry trends toward technology-driven training environments.
