Synthetic Turf Council to celebrate 10th anniversary at Fall Membership Meeting

By |  September 16, 2013

From October 7-9, the Synthetic Turf Council (STC) will be holding its Fall Membership Meeting in Orlando, Fla. at the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld. This year marks the 10th Anniversary for the national non-profit trade association representing the synthetic turf industry.

The event will attract more than 200 industry leaders including manufacturers, suppliers, installers, landscape architects and engineers, testing labs, and maintenance equipment and service companies. It also will feature educational speakers, an exhibitor showcase with tabletop displays, special events and a pre-conference “Whistle-stop” seminar on synthetic grass for landscape and recreation use.

“This marks a major milestone for not only the STC but the industry as well,” said Rick Doyle, president, STC. “We will take this opportunity to look back on the evolution of synthetic turf systems and the STC’s 10 years of effective advocacy, and look ahead to the future of this dynamic industry.”

In addition to a compelling educational program, the two-and-a-half day conference will feature some additional special anniversary events, including a “Whistle-stop” seminar designed specifically for buyers, end-users, and architects and engineers; a private anniversary celebration at SeaWorld’s Shark Encounter; a golf tournament at the Grand Cypress Golf Club and teambuilding activities.

During the “Whistle-stop” seminar on October 7, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., attendees can gain valuable insight from industry professionals on such topics as:

  • New STC Quality Guidelines for Landscape & Recreation Synthetic Grass led by John Baize, Act Global and Brad Borgman, Heavenly Greens;
  • Different Applications for Synthetic Grass led by Dakota Harp, Controlled Products and Brian Karmie, ForeverLawn; and
  • Environmental Benefits of Synthetic Grass led by George Neagle, SYNLawn.

After the seminar, attendees are invited to attend an exhibitor showcase with tabletop displays and interact with the panelists and other professionals in the synthetic turf industry.

On October 8, the STC’s educational program begins with instructive recollections about the industry, the products and the business models from STC’s past chairmen Lanny Bailey, Controlled Products; Tom Peeples, Universal Textile Technologies; Joe Motz, The Motz Group; and John B. Giraud, Target Technologies International. The session will be moderated by current Chairman, John Baize, Act Global.
