Polytex USA launches new artificial turf yarn

By and |  April 19, 2013

Polytex USA has introduced its new star-shaped artificial turf monofilament yarn that is optimized for abrasion resistance and offers an extra wide blade design.

The new star shape maintains its durability with a thickness of 315 Microns while enhancing the yarns aesthetic properties with extra wide blades for a more natural look and better coverage of infill, the company said.

The ability to make artificial turf look more natural while maintaining its performance and durability has always been a goal in the synthetic turf industry. Polytex’s new star shape design exhibits a width of 1.35 mm, a thickness of 315 Microns and maintains a denier of 1800 per strand.

“We at Polytex USA take great pride in our new U.S.-made Star design,” said Polytex USA CEO Axel Hinrichs. “The new star-shaped yarn combines aesthetics with performance to enhance the overall look of the turf.”

The durability of the star shape has been proven with a widely accepted device called Lisport tester and reached 55,000 cycles without fiber splicing, according to the company. The product can be made in single tone as well as in dual tone.

“The new star yarn made in our Calhoun, Ga., plant offers a nice alternative to the ever increasing yarn choices out of the Far East,” he said. “Turf produced using our yarn is truly made in the USA.”
