The Wanamaker Trophy made a quick stop by the grounds hospitality tent on Monday. Some of the crew members posed for photos with this week’s top prize.

Baltusrol’s Spray Tech Jerry Elliott was asked by Superintendent Mark Kuhns if he was going to shave his beard before the tournament. After Kuhns saw Elliotts’ resemblance to golfer Andrew “Beef” Johnston he told him to keep it. The two “long lost brothers” took a quick photo during Monday’s practice round.

Play was suspended at 4:38 p.m. on Monday for lightning in the area. At 6:40 p.m. the rain started to fall and crew members looked on from the maintenance shed.

A small group of championship volunteers and Baltusrol interns and staff went to the driving range around 7 p.m. to work on the tee before another storm was supposed to hit the course.

The drainage on the course did an impressive job with almost 2 inches of rain that fell Monday evening. Photo from Monday at 6:58 p.m. of Baltusrol’s 16th green with standing water behind.

Cups were only sprayed and pins set on Monday. So Tuesday the 2016 PGA Championship cup cutting crew saw their first action.

Remember that mulch near 18 that we mentioned before? Some of it ended up on the 18th fairway too. The fairway bunker experienced a wash out too.
