Golfdom, LM magazines add to staffs

Landscape Management (LM), the leading publication for landscape contractors, and Golfdom, the must-read magazine for golf course superintendents, have hired two seasoned media professionals.

Bill Roddy, a knowledgeable, accomplished Green Industry marketing professional, has joined North Coast Media (NCM) as Publisher of LM and Associate Publisher of Golfdom. Carla Kastanis, a seasoned business-to-business (B2B) media sales representative, has joined NCM as National Account Manager for LM and Golfdom.

Roddy has spent the past 13 years managing some of Melamed Riley Advertising’s largest accounts, including Syngenta and FMC. He was responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies and tactics, and launching and developing brands and products across myriad platforms including events and print, digital and social media.

Kastanis fills a newly created position at LM and Golfdom. She brings with her 17 years of B2B media sales and account management experience from roles at Advanstar Communications and Penton Media. Her extensive background in publishing combined with her knowledge of the latest trends in digital and social media will be a winning formula for marketers.

In addition to expanding its staff, LM and Golfdom have been busy developing several new initiatives including:

  • FD2B Talk Radio Marketing Program: Through a partnership with FD2B founder and radio-show host Jody Shilan, LM promotes the weekly Internet radio talk show for landscape/design build contractors to its audience and offers sponsor opportunities to marketers.

  • LM Webinar Series: LM introduced its Build Your Business webinar series in 2013, and completed a highly successful Grow Your Sales webinar series conducted in partnership with industry consultant Jeffrey Scott.
  • The Official Outdoor Must-See Exhibits Guide: Through a partnership with GIE+Expo, LM will create and sell sponsorships to this new Guide to be distributed before, during and after GIE+Expo 2013 and 2014.
  • Golfdom Redesign: Golfdom’s print edition recently underwent a cover-to-cover redesign with expanded editorial in new columns, departments and features. Readers and advertisers co-engineered the upgrade.
  • Golfdom.com: This revamped site showcases Golfdom’s award-winning blog site and GolfdomTV interviews.
  • LM and Golfdom Events: NCM continues to expand LM’s Lawn Care Forum and The Golfdom Summit, yearly events bringing together top landscapers and superintendents with leading suppliers for a productive, fun few days of education and networking.
  • Largest Industry Audiences: Continued investment in audience development has resulted in LM and Golfdom having their respective industry’s largest audited unduplicated reach.

Rich in tradition and innovation, LM’s history dates back more than 50 years and Golfdom’s 85 years. The above-mentioned recent investments come shortly after the two B2B media gems became part of North Coast Media, launched last May.
