Construction on Tennessee golf community to begin this year

The construction of “WindRiver: A Lakefront and Golf Community” in Lenoir City, Tenn., is scheduled to begin this year. Developer Joe Ayres acquired the community, which already has some infrastructure, in June 2012.

KemperSports is set to manage the 18-hole Bob Cupp-designed championship course. Capital improvements currently underway on the course include bunker renovation and design, improved fairway drainage and additional tee boxes. Future plans include an expansive clubhouse with a full-service restaurant, bar, locker rooms and pro shop.

“We saw an opportunity to improve on a great concept and make it truly special,” says Ayres. “By acquiring this land at a savings we are able to invest significantly into providing world-class amenities and a great club experience for our property owners and guests.”

Ayres and his team at WindRiver Investments have planned WindRiver Sports & Wellness Club and Cosmos Bar & Grill. Other amenities will include a 6-acre park, Brightwater Park, marina, walking trails, pavilion, fire pit, water access and swim area, piers and more.

A new addition to the community’s present Lakeside Inn is Citico’s Restaurant & Club, which opened in July.

A new home neighborhood called The Highlands is scheduled to be released in early 2015, according to a news release.
